Character name: Hizeme (attacking/tortue with fire) Character race: ryuu (dragon) Gender: female Age: 347 years Height: 20 feet Length: 35 feet Wingspan: 56 feet Eye color: Sapphire Scales: Ruby Appearance: The ryuu, being a race of dragons, have four legs, two wings, and long, lithe tails and necks. Hizeme, being somewhat young so far as the ryuu go, is much smaller and unadorned compared to her older bretheren who are thousands of years old and have grown gargantuan in size. She sports a double pair of slender, curved, silvery-pearl colored horns on her head, as well as matching talons, fangs, etc. Her scales are an opal red, an unusual color among a race who's armor is generally varying metalic or earthy colors, and her eyes are a softly glowing sapphire color. Being of the 4-legged variety, she can rear back on her hind legs and hold things, but can't walk very well on only her hind legs. Abilities: Obviously, she has her size and talons and fangs to use in combat, in addition to considerable speed and agility. She can exhale a powerful blast of fire, though it can take her a little time to prepare between shots. She is a very capable flier, and while she cannot speak aloud (At least, not in the human tongue, she can speak easily in the ryuu language), she can speak via telepathy, and in some cases read a person's thoughts. She also learned a scattering of basic magic in her travels, and can cast basic restorative magic. She can also withstand extremes of temperature better than humans, and her scales can keep her fairly safe against most weapons like arrows and swords, (A direct enough hit from a blade may still penetrate her scales though, and her wings are somewhat vulnerable) even though her armor is nowhere near as matured and hardened as older ryuu. Personality: Extremely curious and inquisitive, Hizeme is a rariety among the ryuu, a race generally prefering to live in small communities well removed from other intelligent races. Still compartively young for a race that lives thousands of years, she has yet to tire of roaming the world and meeting other races. When threatened, she will not hestitate to disable her opponent, but generally prefers to not kill them, as she is well aware that humans and other races tend to attack things they don't yet understand. She's very easy-going and lighthearted, and will jump at the chance to socialize with other races, something that, given her size and decidedly non-human form, she seldom gets to do, as other beings tend to either attack or flee. History: At the very young age of 48, Hizeme, still barely a fledgling, encountered humans for the first time. Not much larger than an average human at the time, and not knowing what these funny wingless creatures were, she surprised the you-know-what out of the band of would-be dragon hunters by asking them who they were and stuff telepathically. Most of the hunters decided it was some kind of trick and attacked, and Hizeme was saved by one of the older ryuu of her clan. All but one of the hunters was killed, and the other was left dying. Hizeme was annoyed that her elder had ruined her fun, and stubbornly remained with the dying man, speaking with him and keeping him company until he finally kicked the bucket a week later. She then spent much of her time asking her family, friends, and elders what they knew about these unusual creatures that were capable of communication and intelligence like the ryuu, but were small and frail and wingless, unlike the ryuu. She quickly grew frustrated by the almost total lack of information her kindred had, and was often in trouble for leaving the area for weeks at a time once her wings were large enough to support her in flight. When Hizeme was 93 years old, she became acquianted with a traveling scholar. He had been nearly scared to death when a red colored dragon twice his size landed before him, but fear quickly gave way to curiousity, and the two became friends, the scholar settling in a small hut a short flight from the ryuu settlement. The scholar wrote down much of what he learned of the ryuu from Hizeme, and Hizeme learned quite a bit about the human world from him. However, her elders discovered the unfortunate human. To the ryuu, it was a high crime to reveal oneself to a lesser race, and the ryuu tricked Hizeme into bringing the scholar to the clan's settlement, where they proceeded to execute him and severely scold a very upset Hizeme. Hizeme lashed out in anger against her elders for killing her friend, and she left the clan that night, never to return. Having left her home and no longer having it to fall back on, Hizeme went to her deceased friend's hut and (though she had to tear the roof off to get inside), gathered up his things. She had learned to read the humans written language from the scholar, and found the names and location of his kin. She made that her first destination, though it was understandably difficult for her to read the man's map. She delivered his things to the family, much to their obvious amazement and sadness. She stayed with his family for several years, learning more about how humans lived and interacted, and just how frail and short-lived they are. After they died, she resumed her journey, encountering other people and races, as well as other ryuu clans, most of which held the same view as her old clan. In short, she has been a rogue dragon for a little more than 250 years and has left her mark on various settlements, several which have myths and legends passed down about the red dragon and what it did or did not do to the village. (The tales obviously vary and some are simply blown out of proportion. She did NOT destroy a city or descend from heaven to bless a village or anything like that.) If you want to draw a comparison to something more human, she's an adventurer. Just... she's a dragon, too =p Other random notes: Ryuu oaths/curses/etc- "Name of the Winds!" "Soul's Fires!" "Fly well, may the Winds look kindly on thy journey" "May thy fires consume thee and the Winds scatter what remains!" "By Ryuusama's Fire-!" "My soul to the Winds!" "The Winds bear thee through thy hardship" "By the Winds above and the Fire below-!"
