_______________________________________________________

i wrote this poem in fragmented form.  as i was watching the late news on september 11, thoughts would enter my mind and i would write them down as they came
to me.  later, i re-worked them into a poem.

it takes into account the feelings of normalcy on the part of the victims, who had no idea of the horror soon to be visited upon them, the feelings of dread, fear and shock we all felt as we watched the events of the attack unfold on our tv sets, the rescuers not knowing how many lives were inside, the terror the families and loved ones of the victims felt (the fear, the unanswered questions), the feelings of sadness and even anger we americans (and the world) felt (and continue to feel) on that awful day.

this poem is dedicated to all those lost on the attack on america, and their families and loved ones.  we grieve with you... and we love you... and we will never forget.

Now you lay me down to sleep

Then you begin to weep and weep

You tell me my dad is not coming back

He was killed in the 9-11 attack

You tell me you are sorry again and again

I guess I am just to young to comprehend

You tell me he was brave, A hard working man

He was just a traveler going from land to land

The day has passed and night is here

What shall we do with all of our fear

We should take them to justice

We should show them who’s who

We cant let them hide and say we our fools

Lets go get their asses and show them they arnt cool

Not only for revenge but what is for the right

Lets go…Lets fight for the rights

So many Americans Died on that day

We cant just forget and pretend it will be okay

We must fight for our freedom

Let us all stand

Let us go against the terror that has plagued our land

The dawn is now over and the day is here

We must rise to our feet an conquer our fears

God bless the USA

Please protect us and make it be ok.....Today
