Technical and Historical Notes
After the seven Prototype
Mobile Suits, Inc engineers were kidnapped by the Pembroke sons, they
were forced to design Gundams for the Venus Military Force. Unwilling
but unable to do anything about it, they grudgingly designed and built
two Gundams before six of the team were able to escape. Those two
Gundams were the VMF-MSX01 Anteros and
the VMF-MSX02 Hymemaios. The disgruntled engineers were forced to
create the new Gundams, but they took their revenge in a very subtle
way: Many systems and hardware elements were designed to operate less
efficiently than their Martian counterparts. Most of these
discrepancies escaped notice by Venusian engineers, most of whom were
far less experienced than the PMS team and accepted the designs with
little comment.
While the Anteros was designed largely as a general purpose mobile
suit, the Hymemaios was designed as a high-mobility suit for
close-quarters combat. While Quatre Winner's PMS-XXXG-02SR3
Sandrock (Ver. PMS) boasts greater mobility, the Hymemaios boasts
better overall melee capabilities, partly from pilot Chayton Pembroke's
tendancy to dual-wield his mobile suit's two beam sabers and make the
most of the suit's mobility. Both Chayton and Arthur would put their
Gundams to good use during the war, taking on the Mars Defense Corps
with devastating effectiveness.
