Technical and Historical Notes

In the wake of the Ides Tragedy in early AC 217, the entire Earth Sphere was thrust into unrest as the population tried to cope with the global disaster that would ultimately claim more than half a billion lives. Suddenly short on manpower with which to defend the crippled Earth from the coming Venus invasion fleet, the Earth Defense Organization hurriedly came up with the MDX Project to supplement the military's limited manned mobile suit force. Taking a page from the Virgo's development, the EDO designed three new mobile dolls, the EDO-MDX08 Gemini, the EDO-MDX09 Sagittarius, and the EDO-MDX10 Capricorn. Unlike the original mobile dolls however, the EDO's mobile dolls were far more compact and intended to serve a different mission role. While the Virgo and Virgo II had been intended as the mainstay forces of the White Fang, the EDO's mobile dolls were not to replace manned suits, but instead to supplement them with additional weapons and support. They would be labeled "mobile drones" to reflect their stature and somewhat inferior status. While extremely cheap to mass-produce, the miniature mobile suits could not take nearly the abuse of their full-size cousins. The Gemini was designed as a general purpose support unit, boasting a fair balance of close and long range firepower. Intended as a sort of "wingman" for a manned suit, the Gemini's armament resembled the EDO-MSX01 Scorpio and the manuverability of the EDO-MSX07 Draco.
