In preparation of the expected conflict with Venus, Mars governor Milliardo Peacecraft, with funding from the Winner Corporation, secretly designed and rebuilt the original Gundams to meet the threat. Prototype Mobile Suits, Inc, already well regarded by the governor for their refit of his Tallgeese mobile suit, was again hired to design and help build these upgraded Gundams.

One of the later suits to be built, a new version of Wufei's Altron Gundam was commissioned after events resulted in his daughter Meiran taking command of the PMS-MDC-02S Seiryuu Gundam, which had initially been intended for the older pilot. While the suit boasts an armament similar to the original Altron, its most striking difference is the presence of only one of the distinct extending "Dragon Fang" arm weapons. While the word "Altron" was derived from the Chinese word for "two headed dragon", either the PMS engineers were unaware of this fact, or ignored it. The new Altron has the same flexible "tail" as the original Altron, mounting beam cannons for more ranged capability, and also mounts a beam blade with which the suit could deal with threats from behind.

The suit would serve as Wufei's personal mobile suit throughout most of the war after he recovered from his injuries in early AC 216, and would eventually receive a minor refit where the PMS would outfit it with a second Dragon Fang.
