Technical and Historical Notes
In preparation of the
expected conflict with Venus, Mars governor Milliardo Peacecraft, with
funding from the Winner Corporation, secretly designed and built
several new Gundams to meet the threat. Prototype Mobile Suits, Inc,
already well regarded by the governor for their refit of his Tallgeese
mobile suit, was again hired to
design and help build these new Gundams. One of the first units
completed was the PMS-MDC-02S Gundam Seiryuu, based largely on the
design of Wufei's original Shenlong Gundam from the Eve Wars.
One of the most distinctive looking mobile suits, the Seiryuu was built
with close combat in mind. Both agile and heavily armored, the Seiryuu
could tear through one opponent and move quickly to another. Like the
Shenlong and Altron before it, the Seiryuu sported the same extending
"dragon fang" weapon on one arm, and a shield similiar in design to the
one seen on the Star-Streak. It was a
hard unit to sneak up on as well, mounting a single rear-facing vulcan
gun in its head assembly. Its most unique weapon by far though, was the
superheated tessan it carried- a weapon that resembles a paper fan and
could serve in a number of ways: spread open to shield and bludgeon,
shut for sword-like thrust attacks, and so on.
The unit was initially intended for former Gundam pilot Wufei Chang,
but he turned the offer down. Due to family issues, his daughter Meiran
challenged her father for the right to pilot the suit and won. Wufei
would then follow the hot-tempered girl to Mars, and this would
ultimately prompt the construction of his new mobile suit, the PMS-XXXG-02S3 Altron Ver. PMS. The Seiryuu
would then serve as Meiran's mobile suit until she was injured in an
attempted assassination. While she was recovering from her wounds, the
Seiryuu would fall into the hands of Tiana Pembroke for a time, a
challenge from Meiran to take up combat and experience it for herself
before preaching peace.
